DP4 – TROUBLESHOOT – STICKY RUBBER GOO REMOVAL
I have had the DP4-EVF monitor for some time now, and the coating on the plastic - which once had smooth and silky finish - now is gooey and sticky.... Its weird like the plastic is getting soft - you can leave finger prints and its tacky to touch.
The monitor has not really been used much, and otherwise is in very good shape - but how do I get off the sticky yuk from aging plastic?
Over time, the material just starts to break down. It can be removed and still allow for functionality of the unit.
You will want to use a solution of 90% rubbing alcohol and a slightly abrasive material like a washcloth or sponge. You can also use an old hotel-room key or plastic card to assist in scraping the larger areas. Hope this helps.
